Names for your D&D party, NPCs and villains
Pick a race and class and each name comes with a ready-to-play character sheet: rolled ability scores, armor class, hit points, background, alignment and a plot hook. Use it for a new player character, a tavern keeper your players won't stop asking about, or a villain for the next session.
How each race sounds
Elves get flowing vowels and nature surnames. Dwarves get hard consonants and clan names like Ironforge. Gnomes get playful, tinkering family names. Tieflings get either invented infernal names or virtue names like Solace and Vigil. Dragonborn carry their clan with them, and dragons get titles worthy of a hoard.
Tips for game masters
- Generate a batch before the session and keep a list of unused names for improvised NPCs.
- Save favorites to the shortlist, then use Pick a winner to let the table vote.
- Ability scores use the classic roll of four six-sided dice, dropping the lowest.
